A recall has been issued for approximately 1,800 child safety gates sold exclusively on Amazon.com due to serious safety hazards. The gates, imported by Yiwu Baili Import and Export Co. of China, reportedly fail to comply with federal safety regulations, posing risks of entrapment and falls that could result in serious injury or death.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall on May 15, 2025, citing multiple violations in the recalled gates. These include dangerous gaps large enough for a child’s torso to pass through, faulty locking mechanisms that do not fully engage, and insufficient resistance to push-out force. The safety gates were manufactured from steel and ABS plastic, and were available in both white and black. Some included secondary pet doors and could be either pressure- or drill-mounted.

The recall covers a variety of model numbers and sizes, sold under descriptions such as “57.87-62.59″ Baby Gate,” “60.3″-62.9″ Baby Gate,” and “30.12-61.61″ Pet Gate.” The affected products were distributed by five third-party sellers operating out of China and Hong Kong. Purchasers are advised to immediately stop using the gates and contact the relevant third-party seller via email to coordinate product disposal and refund processing.

While no injuries have been reported as of the recall date, the safety failures represent significant noncompliance with federal standards for expansion gates and enclosures. All known customers are being contacted directly by Amazon and the involved sellers. The gates were available for purchase online from June 2021 through March 2025, with prices ranging from $67 to $200.
