Federal safety officials have issued a stark warning about a lithium-ion power bank that may cause fires, burns, or even death. Approximately 93,000 Yiisonger power banks, sold exclusively on Amazon.com from April 2022 to February 2025, are being flagged by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) for posing serious fire and burn hazards. Consumers are being told to stop using the devices immediately and to follow local hazardous waste disposal procedures to discard them safely.

The Yiisonger KT-D007 power banks, available in multiple colors including black, misty blue, blue, purple, and white, have been linked to at least 79 incidents involving battery explosions, ignition, or swelling. One reported incident involved a major fire that caused $15 million in property damage. Despite the danger, the manufacturer has not responded to the CPSC’s request for cooperation or initiated a recall of the products.

These power banks were sold for between $22 and $40 and are manufactured in China. The product can be identified by the “Yiisonger” name on the front and the model number “KT-D007” on the side. The CPSC emphasizes that these batteries should never be discarded in regular trash, curbside recycling bins, or standard battery recycling boxes. Instead, consumers should contact their local municipal household hazardous waste collection centers to confirm whether they accept defective lithium-ion batteries.
