A vehicle fire on eastbound Interstate 70 near mile markers 29 to 30 prompted a swift emergency response Tuesday evening, resulting in no reported injuries but causing an estimated $30,000 in damage. The fire, which originated in the bed of a white 2013 Ford F-250, remains under investigation by authorities.

The incident occurred around 6:15 p.m. and was discovered by the vehicle’s driver, identified as Autume Goulet. The Funkstown Volunteer Fire Company was the primary responding agency, sending six firefighters to the scene. The fire was brought under control within five minutes of their arrival, limiting further damage and preventing any risk to surrounding traffic or property.
The truck sustained significant damage, but no other vehicles or structures were involved, and no smoke alarms or sprinkler systems were applicable to the situation. No arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

At this time, investigators have not released a definitive cause for the fire, though it has been confirmed that it originated in the truck’s bed. Authorities are asking that anyone with information related to the incident contact the Western Regional Office at 301-766-3888.
