We need your help to stay paywall free

We know you value local news and entertainment that is free, open, and independent. Producing high-quality, paywall-free content isn't free. It takes time, effort, and resources to keep you informed and entertained. Unlike corporate media, we don’t have deep-pocketed investors or big advertisers funding our work—we rely on you, our readers and listeners, to keep Radio Free Hub City running. We're literally running on a shoe-string budget, but keep working hard to provide as much news and entertainment as we can.

If just 5% of local area residents became paid supporters at only $5 per month, we could meet our fundraising goals and continue expanding our news coverage depth while continuing to provide free access for everyone. So, if you'd like to help us in our continuing quest to improve our coverage, please consider becoming a paying supporter.

Will you be one of the 5%?

Through May 11, the museum is presenting “The Sincerest Form: Master Art Copyists,” a project spotlighting artists authorized by the National Gallery of Art to create faithful reproductions of classical works. Visitors can watch artists at work Thursday through Sunday, culminating in a closing ceremony and panel discussion on May 10. The project is supported by Raymond James, Inc. Running concurrently through July 27 is the “Cumberland Valley Photographers” exhibition, an annual juried showcase celebrating talent from the surrounding region. This exhibition is backed by numerous local sponsors, including the Delaplaine Foundation and Conservit, Inc.

Other planned activities in May include the Art Social Hour on May 14, featuring Executive Director Sarah J. Hall in a discussion about Grace Hartigan’s work. Creative Lounge sessions on May 15 and 29 provide casual art-making environments complete with materials and refreshments. These gatherings offer a relaxed setting for attendees to explore personal creativity.

June’s schedule features the Juneteenth Author Showcase on June 8, promoting Black authors from five Maryland counties. From June 10 to 13, the museum hosts its annual “Amazing Tablescapes” fundraiser, where themed table displays—this year inspired by Frida Kahlo—compete for public votes. A special Preview Gala on June 13 marks the opening of “Frida Kahlo: Picturing an Icon,” an exhibition centered on the artist’s personal collection of photographs. The exhibition runs from June 14 through October 5 and is curated from the collection of Vicente Wolf.

Two summer art camps are scheduled as well, including a June 16–20 session focusing on the Frida Kahlo exhibit and a free Adaptive Arts Camp from June 24–26. On June 19, Hall will lead a virtual talk offering deeper insight into the Kahlo exhibition. All events are open to the public, with registration available online. The museum, located in Hagerstown City Park, remains free to visit and continues to offer a wide range of educational and cultural programming.
