Fire crews from the Halfway Volunteer Fire Company responded to the scene and brought the fire under control in approximately 40 minutes. Fifteen firefighters were involved in extinguishing the flames, which originated in the engine compartment of a vehicle and subsequently spread to adjacent trucks. The vehicles involved included a 2017 International, a 2024 Peterbilt, and a Volvo of an unspecified model year.
The fire is believed to have been accidental, with investigators pointing to an electrical failure in the wiring harness located next to the battery compartment as the cause. No injuries or fatalities were reported, and no arrests have been made in connection to the incident.
Quick action by the responding fire department limited the scope of damage. The estimated loss includes $100,000 in vehicle damage and $25,000 in contents.
