Maryland State Police conducted the traffic stop at approximately 5:20 p.m. on April 20, 2025, on westbound Route 50 near Church Road in Bowie. Troopers pulled over a vehicle due to expired registration tags and noticed equipment inside the car resembling law enforcement gear. These items included a bulletproof vest labeled “POLICE,” a duty belt stocked with loaded magazines, handcuffs, pepper spray, a baton, and a BB gun made to resemble a real firearm.
The driver, identified as 60-year-old Antonieo Cole of Baltimore, told troopers he worked as a security guard. However, officers found a fake police badge and identification in his possession. He is legally prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition. Cole was arrested at the scene and taken to the Maryland State Police College Park Barrack for processing before being transferred to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections.
