Emergency crews from the North East Volunteer Fire Company responded to the fire shortly after it was discovered by a neighbor at approximately 5:04 p.m. Around 50 firefighters were dispatched to the scene and were able to bring the flames under control within an hour. Despite their efforts, the dwelling—owned by Robert J. Nickle Jr.—was declared a total loss.
The home was not equipped with a fire alarm or sprinkler system, and it remains unknown whether smoke alarms were present. The exact point of origin and cause of the fire are currently under investigation by local fire officials. No arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
