Agents from the Sonoita Station initially located the white Nissan Rogue and observed three individuals fleeing on foot into the desert. Despite this, the vehicle continued north at high speed. As agents attempted to stop the vehicle, it sped past additional patrol units. After a four-mile pursuit, agents discovered the vehicle had rolled over near the intersection of Route 83 and Cimmaron Road. The driver, found unconscious outside the vehicle, was moved to safety and later airlifted to a nearby hospital due to critical injuries.

The three individuals who fled the scene—two Guatemalan nationals and one Mexican—were apprehended and found to be unlawfully present in the United States. They are facing charges for illegal reentry. The U.S. citizen driver, whose identity has not been released, will face charges related to alien smuggling once medically stabilized.
