Jackson was arrested on January 26, 2024, after a Baltimore City Police Department (BPD) detective observed a firearm exchange on North Milton Avenue through a Citi Watch Camera. The footage showed Jackson handing a tan handgun to his co-defendant, Derek Harvey (no relation to Washington County Commissioner Harvey), who then placed the firearm in his waistband. Detectives quickly intervened, arresting both men and confiscating the weapon and ammunition. Both Jackson and Harvey were prohibited from possessing firearms due to prior convictions.
Harvey, who has already pleaded guilty, is scheduled for sentencing on May 8, 2025. The case was investigated as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a nationwide initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence. The program focuses on building trust within communities, supporting violence prevention organizations, setting focused enforcement priorities, and evaluating the outcomes.
