BMC has issued a recall for approximately 1,300 Kaius 01 bicycles and framesets due to a potential fall hazard. The recall affects models sold between July 2022 and February 2025, with prices ranging from $4,500 to $12,000. The issue stems from the fork steerer tube, which can crack, break, or separate during use, posing a safety risk to riders. The company is urging owners to stop using the affected bicycles immediately and seek a free replacement fork through authorized dealers.

The recall covers all BMC-branded Kaius 01 bicycles and framesets with a V5 fork. The models were sold in several colors, including Peacock Spider, Carbon Black/Brushed Blue, Purple/White, White/Black, Turquoise/Black, Saffron/Black, and Stone Grey. The affected bicycles bear the BMC logo on the downtube. Owners can verify if their bike is included in the recall by checking with BMC’s official website or contacting the company directly.

BMC has reported two cases of the V5 fork steerer separating from the bicycle frame, but no injuries have been reported. Consumers are advised to contact an authorized BMC dealer for a free inspection and replacement fork. BMC USA can be reached at 888-262-7755 or via email at kaius-fork-recall-USA@BMC-Switzerland.com.
