The incident occurred on October 12, 2024, when the Baltimore Pike Volunteer Fire Company responded to a report of a tractor-trailer fire near the 50-mile marker on I-68. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze inside a 2012 Volvo D13, which caused an estimated $30,000 in damage. Fire investigators later determined the fire was deliberately set.

Following a months-long investigation, Deputy State Fire Marshals concluded that Silver, the truck’s owner and operator, intentionally set the vehicle on fire after it became disabled. Authorities believe he abandoned the vehicle on the roadside, returned later to start the fire, and then fled back to Baltimore County.
