The first fire occurred on March 2 at 12:44 a.m. at a detached garage on Keadle Road in Boonsboro, Washington County. The 20-by-30-foot garage, owned by Richard and Lesa Pearce, sustained an estimated $20,000 in damages to both the structure and its contents. Sixty-one firefighters from The First Hose Company of Boonsboro took 40 minutes to control the blaze, which originated on the exterior of the structure. The preliminary cause remains under investigation.

Another fire on March 2 at 11:23 a.m. involved a large garage attached to a single-family home on Sennett Road in Denton, Caroline County. The fire originated on a workbench containing electronic appliances and lithium-ion batteries. The incident resulted in a total loss of industrial equipment and caused an estimated $700,000 in damages. The Denton Volunteer Fire Company, with 25 firefighters, brought the fire under control within 40 minutes. No injuries were reported.

A third fire was reported on March 3 at 12:33 a.m. in Chestertown, Kent County, where a shed on Kansas Avenue caught fire. The shed, owned by Ralph H. Peck ETALS, suffered $10,000 in losses, including $8,000 for the structure and $2,000 for contents. The Rock Hall Volunteer Fire Company responded with 33 firefighters, containing the fire in 45 minutes. The fire’s origin was inside the shed, but the cause remains under investigation.

Authorities urge anyone with information related to these incidents to contact the State Fire Marshal’s Western Regional Office at (301) 766-3888. The Office of the State Fire Marshal continues to promote fire safety and offers resources through its website and helpline.
