Greivell was appointed to the committee in December 2022 following the retirement of former Chair Jerry DeWolf. He later served a full term as Chair from November 2023 to November 2024. Beyond his work with the Republican Central Committee, Greivell has been active in Washington County’s legal and political landscape. He was nominated in 2019 by a 13-member commission for a Circuit Court judicial appointment under Governor Larry Hogan. In 2022, he ran for Circuit Court judge, narrowly missing the Republican primary nomination by 326 votes. His 48.6% of the Republican vote marked the strongest challenge to an incumbent judge in the county in over a century.
As an attorney, Greivell has been involved in several high-profile cases, gaining recognition as a staunch advocate for his clients’ rights. Recently, he led a legal challenge concerning the selection of Washington County early voting centers, taking the case up to the Supreme Court of Maryland ahead of the 2024 primary election. His resignation leaves a vacancy on the committee, which will need to be filled through the standard selection process.
