A wave of fraudulent text messages posing as unpaid toll notifications has been targeting individuals, urging them to pay fake toll debts. Authorities warn against engaging with these texts or providing personal information, as they are part of an SMS phishing, or “smishing,” scam.

We know you value local news and entertainment that is free, open, and independent. Producing high-quality, paywall-free content isn't free. It takes time, effort, and resources to keep you informed and entertained. Unlike corporate media, we don’t have deep-pocketed investors or big advertisers funding our work—we rely on you, our readers and listeners, to keep Radio Free Hub City running. We're literally running on a shoe-string budget, but keep working hard to provide as much news and entertainment as we can.
If just 5% of local area residents became paid supporters at only $5 per month, we could meet our fundraising goals and continue expanding our news coverage depth while continuing to provide free access for everyone. So, if you'd like to help us in our continuing quest to improve our coverage, please consider becoming a paying supporter.
Will you be one of the 5%?
Thank you for supporting Radio Free Hub City!
DriveEzMD emphasizes that it does not request payments via text messages. The only legitimate ways to manage toll accounts or make payments are through the official DriveEzMD website, mobile app, customer service centers, or by following instructions on mailed citations or notices of tolls due. Customers with concerns should directly contact DriveEzMD at 1-888-321-6824 or visit their official website at www.driveezmd.com.
Recipients of these fraudulent messages are advised to file a complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) at www.ic3.gov. Details such as the originating phone number and any links in the text should be included in the report. Additionally, individuals are encouraged to verify their accounts through the official DriveEzMD channels and delete the suspicious messages immediately.
