Ford Motor Company has initiated a recall affecting more than 295,000 Super Duty trucks equipped with 6.7L diesel engines from model years 2020 to 2022. The recall addresses a defect in the high-pressure fuel pump that could lead to engine failure and loss of power, increasing the risk of a crash.

The affected models include the 2020-2022 F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550, and F-600 trucks, as well as the 2021-2022 F-650 and F-750 models. Ford has identified that aged biodiesel deposits can accumulate on internal components of the high-pressure fuel pump, potentially causing it to fail. This failure may result in a sudden loss of motive power, posing a safety hazard to drivers and other road users.
Owners of the impacted vehicles may notice extended crank times during startup, a check engine light, unusual noises, or reduced engine power, which could indicate an impending fuel pump failure. Ford plans to notify owners by mail, advising them to bring their vehicles to a Ford or Lincoln dealer for a Powertrain Control Module software update. This update is designed to enhance pump cooling and prevent the formation of biodiesel deposits. The service will be provided at no cost to the owners.
