A suspected carbon monoxide leak in Solebury, Pennsylvania, has resulted in one fatality and left another individual in critical condition. The incident occurred on December 27, 2024, in the 6900 block of Phillips Mill Road, where a faulty gas heating system caused elevated carbon monoxide levels. The leak has been attributed to issues with a flue and exhaust pipe, and authorities are urging residents to prioritize carbon monoxide safety measures.

Emergency services responded to a 9-1-1 call at approximately 6:31 a.m., reporting an unconscious male on the first floor of a detached office/in-law suite. Rescue personnel transported the 76-year-old man, identified as Walter J. Blucas of Erie, Pennsylvania, to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. A second victim, 76-year-old Dayle Haddon of New York, New York, was found deceased in a second-floor bedroom. First responders detected high levels of carbon monoxide upon arrival.
Two medics from the New Hope Lambertville Rescue Squad were exposed to carbon monoxide and subsequently transported to Doylestown Hospital for evaluation. A Solebury Township Police officer was treated at the scene for minor exposure. The investigation, led by Solebury Township Police, is ongoing, and officials have expressed their condolences to the victims’ families.
