A fatal police-involved shooting in White Plains, Charles County, Maryland, is under investigation by the Independent Investigations Division (IID) of the Maryland Office of the Attorney General. The incident occurred on Friday afternoon during a response by deputies from the Charles County Sheriff’s Office to a reported kidnapping and sexual assault.

The incident unfolded on December 20, 2024, around 3:00 p.m., when deputies were dispatched to a residence on the 7300 block of Tottenham Drive after a 911 call reporting an alleged crime in progress. According to dispatch records, deputies observed a man wearing a mask inside the residence upon arrival. The encounter moved to the home’s two-car garage, where deputies discharged their weapons, striking the individual. Deputies administered medical aid until emergency responders transported the man to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation. Authorities have not yet disclosed the identities of the deceased or the deputies involved. As per IID protocol, this information is typically released within two business days, though this timeline may be extended if necessary.
