The driver, identified as Melissa Anne Dudley, 45, of La Plata, MD, was taken into custody for driving under the influence. Officers observed suspected cocaine and drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the vehicle. During the incident, one passenger, Michael Lawrence Nelson, 42, of Lexington Park, attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by St. Mary’s County deputies. A subsequent search revealed Nelson was in possession of suspected cocaine, brass knuckles, and a folding knife.
Two additional occupants of the vehicle were identified as Thomas Edward Dalton, 38, of Hughesville, and Tabitha Marie Wilson, 30, of Lusby. Investigators determined Wilson initially provided a false name and discovered she had an outstanding warrant in Calvert County for possession with intent to distribute narcotics. All four individuals were transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center.
