We need your help to stay paywall free

We know you value local news and entertainment that is free, open, and independent. Producing high-quality, paywall-free content isn't free. It takes time, effort, and resources to keep you informed and entertained. Unlike corporate media, we don’t have deep-pocketed investors or big advertisers funding our work—we rely on you, our readers and listeners, to keep Radio Free Hub City running. We're literally running on a shoe-string budget, but keep working hard to provide as much news and entertainment as we can.

If just 5% of local area residents became paid supporters at only $5 per month, we could meet our fundraising goals and continue expanding our news coverage depth while continuing to provide free access for everyone. So, if you'd like to help us in our continuing quest to improve our coverage, please consider becoming a paying supporter.

Will you be one of the 5%?

One of the highlights of the evening is the 2024 Hot Dog Eating Contest, hosted by The Dog House. Participants will vie for the coveted title and the bragging rights that come with it. There are still a few spots open for those willing to put their appetites to the test. With only 15 spots available, interested contestants are encouraged to sign up quickly. The entry fee is $10, payable on the night of the contest.

The block party offers much more than just the hot dog competition. Families can enjoy a variety of free activities, including inflatables and kids’ activities from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM. The event kicks off with a Fun Dog Show hosted by Meinelschmidt Distillery at 5:30 PM, followed by the hot dog eating contest at 6:15 PM.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, local restaurants and bars on South Potomac Street will offer drink specials throughout the evening. Attendees can purchase drink cups at the Downtown Hagerstown table to take advantage of these offers.

While the event is designed to be enjoyable for all ages, parents are reminded that children must be accompanied by an adult. The End of Summer Block Party promises to be a perfect way to celebrate the final weekend of summer with the community.

For more information or to inquire about participating in the hot dog eating contest, attendees can visit the Downtown Hagerstown website. Don’t miss out on this fun-filled evening as Hagerstown bids farewell to summer in style!
