In a time where local news media coverage seems to be disappearing, your contribution is more important than ever. While our in-depth articles are for supporting members only, we won’t put our core news content behind a paywall, because we believe access to news should be democratized, instead of access for only those who can afford it.
But keeping the lights on and taking the fight to local accountability takes resources. Your monthly subscription directly funds our public records requests, website hosting, and time spent analyzing local government and events so you don’t have to.
We are the only newsroom in Washington County with facts-first focus, locally owned, independent, while keeping our core news content free. Will you help us keep it that way?
Entertainment will be provided by the Mack Berry Band, performing from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM. Demonstrations of community services will also be on hand, with a fire truck and a police cruiser available for viewing.
A baking contest will be held for both youth and adults. Entries will be received between 10:30 AM and 11:00 AM, with judging taking place from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Following the judging, all baked goods will be auctioned off. Contestants must submit entries that are either pumpkin or apple flavored. Each entry needs to include the contestant’s name and recipe. Whole cakes and pies are required for those categories. For cupcakes, cookies, turnovers, or sweet rolls, a minimum of eight items per recipe must be provided.
In addition to the baking contest, a chili cookoff is open to all ages. All chili entries must be homemade and submitted by 11:00 AM, accompanied by the participant’s name and a list of ingredients. Attendees will have the opportunity to sample and vote for their favorite chili from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM, using purchased tickets. Chili voting tickets can be bought in bundles of 10 for $5 or 20 for $10. The winner of the chili cookoff will be announced at 2:30 PM.
