Initial reports indicated that the affected home was on the market and suggested that an individual might still be inside. Firefighters, along with emergency personnel from the Harford County Special Operations Team, conducted extensive search operations throughout the day. Utilizing heavy machinery, investigators later located a victim amidst the debris.
On August 12, the fire marshal provided an update that the victims have been positively identified as 73-year-old Ray Corkran Jr., the homeowner, and 35-year-old Jose Rodriguez-Alvarado, the contracted BGE utility employee.
In accordance with standard procedures for fatal fires, the Harford County Sheriff’s Office and the OSFM are conducting a joint investigation. Their efforts are focused on determining the precise origin and cause of the explosion. Collaboration with BGE is ongoing, and although there is no indication of criminal activity, investigators are exploring all possible accidental causes.
