We need your help to stay paywall free

We know you value local news and entertainment that is free, open, and independent. Producing high-quality, paywall-free content isn't free. It takes time, effort, and resources to keep you informed and entertained. Unlike corporate media, we don’t have deep-pocketed investors or big advertisers funding our work—we rely on you, our readers and listeners, to keep Radio Free Hub City running. We're literally running on a shoe-string budget, but keep working hard to provide as much news and entertainment as we can.

If just 5% of local area residents became paid supporters at only $5 per month, we could meet our fundraising goals and continue expanding our news coverage depth while continuing to provide free access for everyone. So, if you'd like to help us in our continuing quest to improve our coverage, please consider becoming a paying supporter.

Will you be one of the 5%?

Since its inception in 1999, Fitzgerald Auto Mall has been a stalwart advocate for the safe installation of child safety seats. Statistics demonstrate the life-saving potential of these measures: correctly installed child safety seats reduce fatal injuries by 71% for infants, 54% for toddlers aged 1-4, and 45% for children aged 4-8. These figures highlight the critical need for proper usage, as premature graduation from car seats to seat belts remains a significant issue. Motor vehicle crashes continue to be the leading cause of death among children aged 3 to 14, emphasizing the importance of initiatives like this.

Jack Fitzgerald, the founder of Fitzgerald Auto Mall, launched the Fitzgerald Child Car Seat Inspection Program in 1999 after recognizing the dangers associated with improperly installed child safety seats. Since then, Fitzgerald Auto Mall has installed over 50,000 child safety seats, a milestone unmatched by any other local volunteer program in the United States.

In collaboration with the Montgomery County Safe Kids Coalition, certified professionals will conduct the inspections and provide the community with essential education on proper installation techniques during the free event. “We started this because my own people wanted to make sure children were safer in cars, including their own. I am so thankful for their efforts because I know they’re making a difference every day,” said Jack Fitzgerald.
