HAGERSTOWN, MD News (8/24/2023) – A cloud of sorrow hangs over the Hagerstown community as the harrowing three-month search for 59-year-old Shawn Hall comes to a devastating conclusion. The Hagerstown Police Department (HPD) announced that skeletal remains believed to be those of Shawn Hall were discovered in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. The discovery led to the arrest of 57-year-old Boisey Neal of Glen Burnie on charges of first and second-degree murder and related offenses.

Shawn Hall was last heard from on May 28th, 2023, leaving the community in a state of uncertainty and concern. Hall’s family and friends, along with law enforcement, embarked on an exhaustive search for any leads regarding his whereabouts. The case gained widespread attention as pleas for information reverberated throughout the community and on social media.

The breakthrough in this perplexing case came from a joint effort between the Hagerstown Police Department and the Prince George’s County Police Department. The latter agency’s Homicide Unit took the lead in investigating the murder and apprehending the suspect. According to officials, Neal and Hall were known to each other, and the motive for the murder is still under investigation.

The discovery of skeletal remains in the 13300 block of Old Marlboro Pike in Upper Marlboro on August 23, 2023, marked a tragic turning point in the case. Based on evidence collected at the scene and findings from HPD’s extensive missing persons investigation, the remains were tentatively identified as those of Shawn Hall. An autopsy is scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.

The family of Hall has setup a GoFundMe to help deal with ongoing legal and other costs related to his disappearance and suspected death.
