Individuals aged 16 and older who wish to serve as Election Judges can earn $250 per day for their participation in helping citizens cast their ballots. Furthermore, those who have previously served as Election Judges are eligible for a one-time bonus payment of $100. The responsibilities of an Election Judge include preparing polling places, managing voter check-ins, and addressing voter inquiries. Prospective Election Judges do not require prior experience, as comprehensive training will be provided. Applications can be submitted online through the State Board of Elections website or by contacting local Boards of Elections. It is essential to have a sufficient number of Election Judges available to account for any potential cancellations.
For younger Marylanders aged 14 and 15, the Election Day Page program provides an opportunity to contribute. Pages will assist voters on Election Day under the supervision of Chief Election Judges. This program also offers students the chance to earn service-learning credit hours for their academic requirements. Applications for the Election Day Page program can also be found on the State Board of Elections’ online portal or by reaching out to local election officials. Additionally, state and county government employees scheduled to work as Election Judges may be eligible for administrative leave, with further details available through their respective employers regarding any additional benefits.
