The rebuild aims to re-establish the crucial I-695 Baltimore Beltway connection, restoring a vital transportation link. The project is designed with the needs of local communities in mind, intending to enhance daily life, strengthen regional connections, and facilitate the movement of goods and people nationwide. The new, modern bridge is envisioned to serve Maryland residents for generations to come. Information regarding the project is available at KeyBridgeRebuild.com.
Work on the temporary trestle platforms is progressing on both sides of the river, with completion anticipated this fall. These trestles will serve as essential conduits, ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of supplies, labor, and equipment to the pier sites throughout the construction period. Concurrently, crews are actively driving permanent piles at the two main pylon locations. These piles represent the foundational elements for the main span of the forthcoming cable-stayed bridge. The MDTA, which funds its operations and projects through customer tolls, emphasizes that all its services and projects are financed by the users of its facilities.
