Hagerstown Gears Up for a Fall Season Packed with Events

Hagerstown residents can anticipate a vibrant autumn with a diverse lineup of community events throughout September and October, as announced by the City of Hagerstown. The schedule features a mix of family-friendly activities, cultural gatherings, and opportunities for local engagement, promising something for everyone in the community.

October begins with “Fiber Fest” on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at University Plaza, 50 W Washington Street, starting at 9:00 a.m. This event is dedicated to fiber arts, offering unique yarns, fibers, tools, and handmade goods from various vendors. It also provides a space for crafters to gather and work on projects together.

Hagerstown will also be the host city for the Main Street Maryland Conference on Tuesday, October 6, and Wednesday, October 7, 2026. Downtown Hagerstown will welcome Main Street managers, staff, elected officials, and town leaders from across the state for two days of professional development and exploration of the city.

The month continues with a series of “Ghost Tours” hosted by Hagerstown Parks & Rec. The first tours will take place on Friday, October 9, 2026, at the Train Hub at City Park from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. These tours offer participants an introduction to paranormal investigation techniques and equipment. Pre-registration online is highly recommended for these events, which are open to individuals aged 18 and older and cost $25 per person. Additional ghost tours are scheduled for Saturday, October 10, 2026, also at the City Park Train Hub, and on Friday, October 16, and Saturday, October 17, 2026, exploring City Park and Hager House.

A large Community Yard Sale is planned for Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Fairgrounds Park, starting at 7:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., featuring over 70 stalls of items at the Stables.

On the same day, October 10, 2026, Fairgrounds Park will also host the “Harvest Hoedown” from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This event promises activities such as scarecrow making, pumpkin and hand painting, balloon giveaways, a petting zoo, and pony rides. The first 1,000 children aged 12 and under will receive a free pumpkin.

For those interested in a more active pursuit, the “Steps Toward Healing for Mental Health 5K Run & Walk” will take place in downtown Hagerstown on Saturday, October 17, 2026, beginning at 9:00 a.m. This event is hosted by BTST Services.

The “Stay Wicked Artisan Festival,” sponsored by the City of Hagerstown and hosted by Create a Candle, will debut on Saturday, October 17, 2026, on South Potomac Street from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. This festival is free to attend and will feature various vendors and activities.

Leading up to Halloween, several family-oriented events are scheduled. A “Drive-thru Trick-or-Treat” will be held at Fairgrounds Park on Thursday, October 22, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with tickets booked by the hour. The “Downtown Halloween Block Party” is set for Friday, October 23, 2026, on South Potomac Street, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., including trick-or-treating and a costume contest.

Also on October 23, 2026, and continuing on Saturday, October 24, 2026, there will be further ghost tours at City Park and Hager House.

A “Howl-o-ween Dog Costume Parade” is scheduled for Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Fairgrounds Park, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The city is organizing “Citywide Trick-or-Treat” on Friday, October 30, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. On Halloween day, Saturday, October 31, 2026, “Downtown Businesses Trick-or-Treat” will run from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., followed by the 99th Alsatia Mummers Parade in downtown Hagerstown at 6:00 p.m.
