IAFF Local 1605 Foundation Surpasses $2.5 Million Milestone with Latest Charity Donations

HAGERSTOWN, Md. – The IAFF Local 1605 Foundation has announced a significant philanthropic achievement, distributing $123,850 to 25 local charitable organizations and first-responder programs. This latest round of funding, generated by the 2026 Bonanza Extravaganza, pushes the Foundation’s cumulative community contributions to over $2.5 million since the event’s inception in 2006.

The annual Bonanza Extravaganza, a two-day community gathering held at Hagerstown Speedway, features extensive cash and prize drawings totaling more than $900,000, alongside gaming, vendor opportunities, and live musical performances. All proceeds from the event are dedicated to supporting a wide array of charities and vital first-responder initiatives throughout the region. The success of the Bonanza Extravaganza directly translates into tangible support for numerous local causes, bolstering their capacity to serve the community.

“More than $2.5 million has now gone back into the community because people continue to show up for this event and support its mission,” said Jim Kershner, President of the IAFF Local 1605 Foundation. “That milestone belongs to the supporters, sponsors and volunteers who have made the Bonanza possible year after year. This year alone, their support is helping 25 local charities and first-responder initiatives continue the work they do for our community. That is something we are incredibly proud of.”

The considerable sum raised demonstrates the sustained commitment of attendees, sponsors, and volunteers who contribute to the Bonanza’s ongoing success. This year’s beneficiaries, numbering 25, will utilize the funds to advance their respective missions, which often include critical services and support networks for residents. The Foundation highlights that this community-driven effort is the driving force behind its ability to reach such substantial giving totals year after year.

Looking ahead, the 21st Annual Bonanza Extravaganza is scheduled to take place on May 7 and 8, 2027, at the Hagerstown Speedway. Details regarding ticket sales, prize drawings, the musical lineup, and available sponsorship opportunities are expected to be released in the coming months, with tickets going on sale later in 2026. The IAFF Local 1605 Foundation continues its mission to foster community well-being by supporting local non-profits and emergency service organizations through its signature fundraising event.
