Malott, a lifelong student within the WCPS system, is currently pursuing studies in photography and cinematography at the Barbara Ingram School for the Arts. His prior leadership experience includes serving as President of the Barbara Ingram Student Council Association, Council Chairman of the Hagerstown Youth Council, and President of the Washington County Association of Student Councils (WCASC). He has also been actively involved with the Maryland Association of Student Councils, serving as a certified workshop presenter and an executive board member. Throughout his various leadership capacities, Malott has consistently focused on fostering an environment where students feel acknowledged, heard, supported, and engaged. In his new capacity, he aims to deepen his understanding of the needs of both students and staff, gain greater familiarity with district operations, and lead initiatives for positive change.

This new appointment means that the perspectives of WCPS students will be directly represented at the highest level of the school district’s governance. Malott’s stated intentions include working to broaden opportunities for students, ensuring academic equity and accountability, and actively addressing the needs of his peers throughout the district. His participation is intended to ensure that student voices are an integral part of the Board’s decision-making processes.
