A fatal traffic accident involving a motorcycle and a car occurred on Friday, July 17th, prompting an ongoing investigation by the Hagerstown Police Department. Officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Dual Highway around 5:09 p.m. in response to a report of a two-vehicle collision.

Upon arriving at the scene, authorities discovered the victim, identified as 20-year-old Clayton Hendrix of Smithsburg, Maryland. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle, operating a Subaru, was transported to Meritus Medical Center with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

The Hagerstown Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Team was called to conduct a thorough examination of the incident. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is continuing. Once the investigation is complete, the findings will be forwarded to the Washington County State’s Attorney’s Office for their review and to determine if any charges will be filed. No additional details are being released by the department at this time.
