The Alice Virginia & David W. “It’s hard to believe we’ve already been in this incredible building for a year,” said Addie Nardi, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Washington County. “Watching the vision we had for our members come to life has been truly rewarding. Every day, we see young people growing, learning, and thriving in this space, and we’re excited to continue building on that success in the years ahead.”
Throughout its inaugural year, the Fletcher Center has hosted a diverse range of activities, from after-school tutoring and educational enrichment sessions to engaging summer camps and recreational sports. The center has also served as a vital community hub, accommodating service club meetings, educational tours, and family engagement events. Notable events that have taken place at the center include the Boys & Girls Clubs of America Maryland Youth of the Year Competition and various holiday celebrations, reinforcing its role as a central gathering place.
The Boys & Girls Club of Washington County, with its mission to empower young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens, has been serving the region since 1941. The organization currently operates four after-school and summer camp locations within Hagerstown and an additional site in Frostburg. Annually, the Club serves approximately 700 young individuals between the ages of 6 and 18, demonstrating a consistent commitment to youth development across Washington County. The ongoing success of the Fletcher Center is expected to further solidify the organization’s impact in the coming years.
