The Alice Virginia & David W. Fletcher Center, operated by the Boys & Girls Club of Washington County, is celebrating its first anniversary, reflecting on a year of significant growth and community involvement that has provided essential opportunities for hundreds of young people in the area. Since its official opening on July 17, 2025, the center has become a cornerstone for youth development, offering a wide array of programs and activities designed to foster personal growth and responsibility.

The establishment of the Fletcher Center has not only provided a dedicated space for youth but has also fostered strong collaborations with various community organizations. These partnerships, including those with the Washington County Free Library, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Washington County, and the Meritus School of Osteopathic Medicine, have been instrumental in enriching the programming and expanding the reach of the Club’s services. These collaborations have allowed for a more comprehensive approach to youth development, addressing various aspects of a young person’s life.

Throughout its inaugural year, the Fletcher Center has hosted a diverse range of activities, from after-school tutoring and educational enrichment sessions to engaging summer camps and recreational sports. The center has also served as a vital community hub, accommodating service club meetings, educational tours, and family engagement events. Notable events that have taken place at the center include the Boys & Girls Clubs of America Maryland Youth of the Year Competition and various holiday celebrations, reinforcing its role as a central gathering place.
