Approximately 86,040 Kitchen HQ brand thermal insulated bowls are being recalled due to a significant fire hazard, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The issue stems from metal springs within the detachable hinged lids, which can ignite when the bowls are placed in a microwave. Consumers have reported instances of smoking, sparking, melting, and even fires when using these bowls in microwave ovens, with one incident leading to property damage.

The recalled products include specific models of Kitchen HQ thermal insulated bowls, identified by their stock-keeping unit (SKN) numbers. Affected items include the 10-cup bowl (SKN 817800), a set containing 10.5-cup and 2-cup bowls (SKN 884907), and a set of three bowls in 10.4-cup, 6-cup, and 2-cup sizes (SKN 900600). These bowls, available in various colors, feature a metal interior and a plastic exterior with the “KITCHEN HQ” branding. The recalled bowls were sold by HSN, Inc. on HSN.com, during televised shopping segments, and on HSN’s digital platforms between July 2023 and February 2026, with prices ranging from $20 to $60.
Consumers who purchased these Kitchen HQ thermal insulated bowls are urged to cease using them immediately. To address the hazard, HSN is offering a full refund for consumers returning the complete bowl and lid set. Alternatively, individuals who wish to keep the insulated bowls but discard the lids can receive a partial refund. To initiate the recall process, consumers can contact HSN toll-free at 888-520-2197, Monday through Friday, between 8:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Eastern Time.
