The Maryland State Freight Plan functions as a comprehensive statewide strategy designed to enhance the understanding and improvement of freight movement throughout Maryland. It plays a vital role in identifying current and future freight needs, establishing priorities, addressing challenges, and formulating potential solutions that ensure the safe and efficient transportation of goods. By engaging various stakeholders, including MDOT Modal Administrations, the State Freight Advisory Committee, Metropolitan Planning Organizations, partner agencies, and the general public, MDOT aims to create a robust and responsive plan.
Individuals and organizations can contribute to this planning process by completing a brief survey, which is designed to be accessible on both desktop and mobile devices and takes approximately 10 minutes to finish. The survey provides an opportunity for participants to offer feedback on the proposed Vision and Goals for the 2026 plan, rank the importance of specific objectives within each goal, and submit additional comments or suggestions. Furthermore, participants can opt-in to receive future updates regarding the development of the 2026 Maryland State Freight Plan. The deadline for survey submissions is Monday, June 15, 2026. Those with further inquiries or comments can direct them via email to mdstatefreightplan@mdot.maryland.gov. Washington County Government is encouraging all residents, businesses, and transportation partners to participate in this important effort to support Maryland’s statewide freight planning initiatives.
