Leesburg, VA residents are invited to attend the Town of Leesburg’s annual Memorial Day Observance, scheduled to take place on Monday, May 25th, at 10 a.m. The ceremony will be held on the grounds of the Loudoun County Courthouse and is dedicated to remembering and honoring individuals who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the U.S. armed forces.
The observance will feature remarks from Mayor Kelly Burk, who will also lead a wreath-laying ceremony at the war memorials. Major General (Ret.) James “Spider” Marks is slated to be the distinguished guest speaker for the event. The ceremony aims to pay tribute to all soldiers, sailors, marines, and airmen who have lost their lives in defense of the nation.

For attendees planning to travel to the Loudoun County Courthouse, several street closures will be in effect on South King Street to accommodate the event. From 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Market Street will be closed between Wirt and Church streets, and King Street will be closed from Loudoun to Cornwall streets. Public parking is available at the Pennington Lot, located at 112 Church Street, as well as at the Town Hall and Loudoun County parking garages.
In the event of inclement weather, the Memorial Day Observance will be relocated to the Leesburg Senior Center.
