Throughout June, the library will host several workshops and clubs designed to foster creativity and learning. Park Guide Kinley Cook from Catoctin Mountain Park is scheduled to present on Appalachian crafts, including blacksmithing, pottery, broom making, and woodcarving, on June 30 from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM. Participants will learn about the historical significance of these crafts in the region and how current park rangers are preserving these heritage skills. On June 25, from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM, an art session titled “Color, Pattern, & Place: Learning from Aboriginal Artists” will explore the artistic traditions of Australia’s First Peoples, with a focus on techniques inspired by artists Emily Kame Kngwarreye and Clifford Possum Tjapaltjarri. This adults-only workshop costs $10 per person and requires registration, during which participants will create their own dot-based artwork. For those interested in digital skills, a computer class on June 11 from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM will provide an introduction to accessing e-books, e-audiobooks, magazines, TV shows, movies, and music for free through library services like Hoopla and Overdrive (Libby app). Attendees are encouraged to bring their own devices, though laptops will be available.

The library is also facilitating the creation of a Time Capsule, with drop-in letter-writing stations available from June 15-18, July 6-10, and August 3-7, for items to be sealed and stored for a decade.

Mental health and wellness are also addressed in the June programming.
