Shepherdstown Invites Residents to Shape Future of Market House Plaza

The Town of Shepherdstown is seeking public input on potential concepts for a new outdoor public space near the historic Market House, according to information released by the town. A community conversation is scheduled for Thursday, May 21, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the War Memorial Building, located at 102 East German Street. This session aims to foster an open discussion about ideas for creating a more versatile public area that can accommodate various community activities and contribute to the liveliness of the downtown district.

Preliminary discussions have centered on proposals for outdoor seating and gathering spaces. These envisioned enhancements could support a range of events and uses, including community gatherings, the local Farmers Market, live music performances, outdoor movie nights, and seasonal festivities. Town officials have stressed the importance of early public engagement, encouraging residents to participate in the dialogue as concepts continue to develop. All members of the community are welcome to attend the meeting to learn about the proposed ideas, share their thoughts, suggestions, and concerns.
