American Honda Motor is initiating a recall of approximately 12,600 model year 2025-2026 CRF250R/RX/RWE and CRF450R/RX/RWE off-road motorcycles. This recall, announced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, addresses a potential defect where the handlebar clamp could unexpectedly rotate, creating a significant crash hazard that could lead to severe injury or death.

The recalled motorcycles, all featuring a red chassis, can be identified by their model numbers, CRF250R/RX/RWE or CRF450R/RX/RWE, which are printed in white letters on the front of the bike. A white Honda logo is present on both sides of the rear of the motorcycle. The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), crucial for determining if a specific motorcycle is part of the recall, is located on the left side of the steering head. Honda has provided a dedicated section on their powersports website for consumers to check their VIN against the recall list. These motorcycles were sold nationwide by authorized Honda Powersports dealers between June 2024 and March 2026, with prices ranging from $8,900 to $13,200.

Owners of the affected motorcycles are strongly urged to cease using them immediately. Honda recommends contacting an authorized Honda Powersports dealer to schedule a complimentary inspection. If the handlebar clamp is found to be defective, it will be replaced free of charge at the dealership. While the company has received one report of a crash associated with this issue, no injuries have been reported to date. The motorcycles were manufactured in Japan.

Consumers seeking more information or wishing to schedule their repair can contact American Honda Motor toll-free at 866-784-1870 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Pacific Time, Monday through Friday. Additionally, details and VIN lookup can be found online at https://powersports.honda.com by navigating to the “Recalls” section.
