Violent Rideshare Carjacking Ring Member Sentenced to Decades in Prison

Corique Moseley, 18, has been sentenced to 75 years in prison, with 40 years to be served, for his involvement in a violent carjacking and kidnapping spree that targeted rideshare drivers and passengers in late 2022 and early 2023. The sentencing, announced by Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown, marks a significant development in the investigation of a criminal organization responsible for over 40 violent incidents across the state. The investigation was a collaborative effort involving the Maryland Office of the Attorney General, the FBI’s Baltimore Violent Crimes Task Force, and the Baltimore City and County Police Departments.

Moseley’s sentence includes the first 30 years being served without the possibility of parole, reflecting the severity of his crimes, which included armed carjackings, kidnappings, and a sexual assault. He will also be subject to five years of supervised probation upon release and must register as a sexual offender for the remainder of his life. During a jury trial in December 2025, Moseley was convicted on 31 counts, with evidence presented demonstrating his use of handguns to coerce victims into relinquishing property. He was found to have participated in at least four armed carjackings and armed robberies.

The criminal enterprise utilized rideshare applications, such as Uber and Lyft, to lure unsuspecting drivers. Once passengers were in the vehicle, they were carjacked at gunpoint. In some instances, victims were confined to the trunks or back seats of their own vehicles while the perpetrators continued to use the stolen cars and rideshare accounts to pick up and rob additional passengers. Some victims endured hours of captivity while their bank accounts were emptied through ATM withdrawals and mobile payment applications. In one particularly egregious incident, Moseley sexually assaulted a female victim at gunpoint while his accomplices forced another victim to withdraw funds from multiple ATMs. Moseley was convicted of third-degree sexual offense by force or threat of force in connection with this assault, and the victim identified him shortly after the incident. Moseley was a minor at the time of these offenses.

The investigation has led to the conviction of Moseley and five other individuals. Four of his co-defendants have already been sentenced. Raquan Pierce received a sentence of 30 years, with 14 years to serve, including five years without parole, after pleading guilty to charges including participation in a criminal organization and multiple counts of armed carjacking and kidnapping. Shamar Anderson was sentenced to 30 years, with 25 years to serve, including five years without parole, after pleading guilty to charges that included participation in a criminal organization, armed carjacking, kidnapping, home invasion, and firearm use. Tre’Quon Maye was sentenced to 30 years, with 15 years to serve, including five years without parole, following his guilty plea to participation in a criminal organization, armed carjacking, kidnapping, and firearm use. Ammar Shields received a sentence of 25 years, with seven years to serve, including five years without parole, for his guilty plea to participation in a criminal organization, armed carjacking, kidnapping, and firearm use. The sentencing for Jamarie Ward, who also pleaded guilty to participation in a criminal organization, armed carjacking, kidnapping, and firearm use, is scheduled for July 15, 2026.
