The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued a critical warning for consumers to immediately cease using “Relaxing Baby” swim floats, citing a severe risk of drowning for infants and toddlers. The commission is aware of a tragic incident involving the death of a two-year-old child who was using these floats. The seller of the product, Wu He/Relaxing Baby, located in China, has not responded to the CPSC’s requests to address this safety concern.

The “Relaxing Baby” swim floats are described as blue and green inflatable devices designed for children aged 3 to 36 months. These floats feature a central seat where the child is secured with a buckle. Some models also come with a detachable rear float. The hazard identified by the CPSC is the product’s tendency to flip over or submerge with the occupant underwater, creating a direct drowning risk for young children. These hazardous floats have been sold through Amazon.com and have also been listed on other online platforms such as ebay.com.
The CPSC is strongly advising all consumers who possess these “Relaxing Baby” swim floats to take immediate action. Consumers are urged to puncture the inflatable plastic in any location that allows deflation and then dispose of the product promptly. Furthermore, the commission emphasizes that these hazardous swim floats should not be sold or given away to others due to the serious danger they pose.
For consumers who have experienced a safety incident involving this product or wish to report a product defect, the CPSC encourages them to submit their reports through the SaferProducts.gov website. The agency also reminds the public that federal law prohibits the sale of products subject to a Commission-ordered recall or a voluntary recall undertaken in cooperation with the CPSC.
To obtain further safety information, consumers are directed to visit CPSC.gov, sign up for email alerts, and follow the CPSC on various social media platforms. For immediate assistance or to report a dangerous product or product-related injury, consumers can contact the CPSC’s Hotline at 800-638-2772 (TTY 800-638-8270).
