EASTON, MD – A Vienna, Maryland man has been arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder following an incident where he allegedly fired multiple shots at a Maryland State Trooper responding to a disturbance. The accused, Armond Darel Jolley, 46, is currently being held without bond at the Dorchester County Detention Center.

According to information released by the Maryland State Police, the incident occurred around 10:20 PM on April 2, 2026, when a trooper from the Easton Barrack was dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of Middle Street in Vienna. The trooper arrived to find the front door of the home open and made contact with a man inside what appeared to be the living room. When the trooper requested to speak with the individual, the man retreated into the home and subsequently emerged with a firearm, discharging several shots toward the trooper before fleeing the scene. The trooper, who was uninjured, took cover and requested additional units.
Following the shooting, Maryland State Troopers established a perimeter around the area and initiated neighborhood checks. Approximately twenty minutes after the shots were fired, law enforcement officers located the suspect near Water Street, behind the residence. A brief foot pursuit ensued, after which the suspect, identified as Armond Darel Jolley, was apprehended without further incident.
The investigation has involved multiple agencies, with troopers from the Easton Barrack, the Criminal Enforcement Division, and the Underwater Recovery Team responding to the scene. Additionally, members of the Office of the State Fire Marshal and deputies from the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office provided assistance. Crime scene technicians from the Maryland State Police Forensic Sciences Division were also present to process the scene for evidence. The Office of the State’s Attorney in Dorchester County has been consulted on the charges. The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit is overseeing the ongoing investigation.
