The City of Hagerstown has announced that it will resume disconnecting electric service for customers with delinquent accounts beginning April 1st. Residents who are behind on their payments are strongly encouraged to make arrangements for payment or to seek assistance to avoid losing their electricity. The city is providing this notice as a courtesy to its electric customers.

Beginning next week, the city will start delivering 24-hour notices to residential customers who have accumulated significant outstanding balances on their electric bills. The City of Hagerstown has expressed its commitment to collaborating with customers who are willing to establish payment plans to prevent service interruptions. Individuals who wish to discuss payment arrangements are advised to contact Customer Service via email at customerservice@hagerstownmd.org, by phone at 301-790-4160, or by visiting the Customer Service office in person.
For those customers who require financial assistance to manage their electric bills, the Washington County Community Action Council is available to help. This organization can be reached at 117 Summit Avenue in Hagerstown, or by calling 301-797-4161.
Additionally, the City of Hagerstown reminded all customers of the availability of its 24-hour payment kiosk. Located outside the Customer Service office at 32 N. Potomac Street, this kiosk allows residents to pay their City electric, water, sewer, trash, and personal or real estate tax bills conveniently using a card or EFT check at any time.
