The funds will be allocated towards several key areas aimed at improving the experience and well-being of seniors utilizing these facilities. Plans include the purchase of updated equipment for the centers, the continuation of popular creative arts classes such as paint and pottery, and the acquisition of prizes for bingo games. Additionally, a portion of the donation will support events and activities specifically scheduled for Older Americans’ Month in May.
PA Health and Wellness has been collaborating with the Franklin County Area Agency on Aging since early 2024. This partnership has resulted in the organization now providing programming at all eight senior centers throughout the county. Officials emphasized the importance of these centers as vital community hubs that offer opportunities for learning, recreation, and social engagement. They noted that without such programs, seniors could face an increased risk of social isolation, which can have negative implications for their health.
