The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced a recall for window opening control devices manufactured by Andersen Windows. These devices, sold both as standalone kits and as factory-installed features on Andersen’s 100 Series casement windows manufactured before November 19, 2025, are being recalled due to a significant fall hazard. The devices have the potential to break or detach, leading to unexpected window openings and posing a risk of serious injury from falls.

The recall encompasses approximately 91,000 units sold in the United States, with an additional 180 units distributed in Canada. These window opening control devices were available to consumers from October 2015 through December 2025 through independent window distributors and online at parts.andersenwindows.com. The price of these devices ranged from $9 for individual kits to $220 when factory-installed on a 100 Series casement window.

Andersen Windows has received eight reports detailing instances where the window opening control devices have broken, detached, or malfunctioned. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported in connection with these incidents. Consumers are advised to immediately cease using the affected windows in any position other than closed and locked. To determine if their windows are part of the recall, consumers can contact Andersen Windows and provide the Product ID number, which is located on a label in the upper right corner of the window. The Andersen logo (“AW”) and “Andersen” are also found in the lower right corner of the window.

Consumers are instructed to contact Andersen Windows directly to schedule a free in-home repair by an authorized technician. This can be done by calling Andersen Windows toll-free at 844-815-7332, Monday through Friday, between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Central Time, or by emailing 100Seriescasementwocdrecall@andersencorp.com. Further information and repair request submissions can also be made online at http://www.andersenwindows.com/100seriescasementwocdrecall or by navigating to the “Recalls” section at the bottom of http://www.andersenwindows.com.
