According to information from the Maryland State Police, the arrests were made following an investigation into a shooting reported on January 26th. Authorities responded to the 11000 block of Dryden Lane in Princess Anne, where they discovered two individuals inside a 2026 Kia Seltos SUV with apparent gunshot wounds. One of the victims, identified as Derrick Knox, 46, of Salisbury, Maryland, was pronounced deceased at the scene. An autopsy later confirmed his death was a homicide by gunshot. The second victim, Kevin Pillar, 41, also of Salisbury, Maryland, was transported to a shock trauma center for medical treatment by the Maryland State Police Aviation Command.
Investigators have charged a 17-year-old girl from Salisbury with first-degree murder and other related offenses. She was taken into custody shortly after the incident and is currently being held without bond at the Somerset County Detention Center. A 16-year-old boy, also from Salisbury, has been arrested and is facing similar charges, including first-degree felony murder, second-degree murder, and robbery. He was taken into custody at a residence in Salisbury and is being processed at the Salisbury Barrack. Both juveniles were taken into custody without incident.
The investigation is being conducted by the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit, with assistance from the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office and the Office of the State’s Attorney in Somerset County. Crime scene technicians from the Maryland State Police Forensic Sciences Division processed the scene for evidence. Authorities indicate that additional arrests are anticipated as the investigation progresses.
While the motive for the shooting has not yet been determined, investigators are urging anyone with information related to the case to contact Sgt. Joe Meier of the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit at 443-515-0034. All calls will be kept confidential. The investigation remains ongoing.
