Maryland State Police have announced the arrests of two additional juveniles in connection with the fatal shooting of Derrick Knox, which occurred on January 26, 2026, in Princess Anne, Maryland. The ongoing investigation, led by the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit with assistance from the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office and the Office of the State’s Attorney in Somerset County, has resulted in charges of first-degree murder and other related offenses against a 14-year-old and a 16-year-old boy. Both juveniles are currently being held without bond at the Somerset County Detention Center.

The 14-year-old suspect was apprehended by Maryland State Police in Princess Anne on February 10, 2026. The 16-year-old was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals in Chula Vista, California, on February 4, 2026. He was subsequently extradited to Maryland last week to face charges. These recent arrests bring the total number of juveniles charged in connection with the incident to four. Previously, a 17-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy, both from Salisbury, were arrested and charged with murder. They also remain in custody at the Somerset County Detention Center without bond.
The incident that led to these arrests took place shortly after 2 p.m. on January 26, 2026. Deputies from the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office and troopers from the Maryland State Police Princess Anne Barrack responded to a call reporting a shooting in the 11000 block of Dryden Lane in Princess Anne. Upon arrival, they discovered two victims inside a 2026 Kia Seltos SUV, which was parked in the roadway, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Derrick Knox, 46, of Salisbury, was pronounced deceased at the scene. A second victim, identified as Kevin Pillar, 41, also of Salisbury, sustained injuries during the shooting and was transported to a local trauma center by the Maryland State Police Aviation Command for treatment.
