The incident involved a Chevrolet pickup truck and a Toyota pickup truck. According to preliminary findings released by the Maryland State Police, the driver of the Chevrolet, identified as 60-year-old Daniel Price of Biglerville, Pennsylvania, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Toyota, a 58-year-old male, sustained injuries and was transported by Maryland State Police Aviation Command to a shock trauma center for advanced medical care. The exact condition of the injured driver has not been released.
Troopers from the Maryland State Police Frederick Barrack were dispatched to the location around 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The preliminary investigation suggests that the Chevrolet pickup truck, operated by Mr. Price, was traveling northbound on MD 194. For reasons yet to be determined, the vehicle reportedly crossed the center yellow line, leading to a head-on collision with the oncoming Toyota pickup truck. The impact of the crash necessitated the closure of traffic lanes for approximately two hours to allow for a thorough investigation and the removal of the vehicles.
The Maryland State Police Crash Team is spearheading the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision. Further details regarding the cause of the crash are expected to be released as the investigation progresses. The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office and local fire and emergency medical services also responded to the scene to assist.
The investigation is active and ongoing, and authorities are seeking any witnesses who may have information about the crash to come forward.
