The collision occurred yesterday around 8:03 a.m. in the southbound lanes of U.S. Route 15, near Hansonville Road. According to preliminary findings from the Maryland State Police, a Nissan Versa, driven by the deceased, was attempting to cross over U.S. Route 15 when it was struck by a Toyota Camry. The force of this initial impact caused the Nissan to be propelled off the roadway, where it ultimately collided with a telephone pole. A third vehicle, a Honda Pilot, was subsequently struck by debris that was scattered as a result of the crash.
Emergency responders, including troopers from the Maryland State Police Frederick Barrack, deputies from the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, and personnel from the Division of Fire & Rescue Services in Frederick County, were dispatched to the scene. The driver of the Toyota Camry, a 22-year-old female, was transported by ambulance to Frederick Health Hospital to receive treatment for injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the Honda Pilot reportedly did not sustain any injuries.
The driver of the Nissan Versa was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Maryland State Police Crash Team is currently leading the active and ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident. Authorities have closed two lanes of southbound U.S. Route 15 to facilitate the investigation. The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration also provided assistance at the scene.
