Washington County Government has announced the conclusion of its free mulch giveaway program at the Forty West Landfill, as the available supply of mulch has been fully distributed. The initiative, designed to manage yard waste generated by storms and promote the environmentally responsible reuse of organic materials, saw significant participation from county residents.

Throughout the duration of the program, the Forty West Landfill provided approximately 115 tons of mulch to residents. The county expressed its gratitude for the community’s engagement and support of the program. While the free mulch is no longer available, residents can still purchase mulch from the Forty West Landfill at the standard price of $30 per ton. For further inquiries, individuals are encouraged to contact the Forty West Landfill directly at 240-313-2790.
