According to the preliminary investigation, Maryland State Police troopers were dispatched to the area of the outer loop of Interstate 695, between Providence Road and Delaney Valley Road, shortly before 2:30 a.m. following a report of a crash involving a pedestrian. The sequence of events began when a Mitsubishi Outlander became disabled in the left lane, its hazard lights activated, after striking a concrete barrier. Subsequently, a Toyota Camry collided with the rear of the Mitsubishi. The occupants of both the Mitsubishi and the Toyota then exited their vehicles and stood on the left shoulder. Moments later, a Chevrolet Equinox, in an effort to avoid striking the stationary Toyota Camry, swerved onto the left shoulder and struck Mr. Kahn. The driver of the Chevrolet Equinox is reported to have exited the vehicle and fled the scene. Investigators are looking for a 2025 red Chevrolet Equinox, which is believed to have damage to its front and passenger side.
Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed this incident or possesses any information pertinent to this ongoing investigation to come forward. Individuals can contact the Maryland State Police Golden Ring Barrack at 410-780-2700 or reach out to Corporal Lantz via email at james.lantz@maryland.gov. The Maryland State Police Crash Team is leading the investigation, which remains active and in progress.
