The blaze resulted in substantial damage to the property, with estimated losses totaling $250,000 for the structure and an additional $50,000 for its contents. The occupant of the home, Tammie Bousher, discovered the fire. The activation of a smoke alarm within the residence was noted. Four individuals have been displaced as a result of the incident. Tragically, two injuries were reported. One occupant was transported to the hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation. Separately, one firefighter sustained an injury that was not directly related to the fire itself. The American Red Cross has stepped in to provide assistance to the affected family.

The response to the fire involved a significant number of personnel and resources. The Longmeadow Volunteer Fire Company was the primary responding department, with a total of 61 firefighters on the scene. The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes of the initial alarm.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers associated with heating devices and the importance of maintaining a safe distance between heaters and flammable materials. Residents are encouraged to ensure their smoke alarms are functioning properly and to practice fire safety in their homes.
