The incident unfolded at approximately 3:30 AM on December 17, 2025, when authorities were dispatched to the 11400 block of Longview Drive. Upon their arrival at the scene, deputies encountered a van engulfed in flames. Further examination revealed that the van had collided with several other vehicles in the vicinity. Tragically, a deceased individual was discovered at the scene. The deceased has been identified as an adult male and has been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire and subsequent collisions is ongoing. Authorities are requesting that any individuals who may possess video footage of the incident submit it through a dedicated portal at https://washingtonsheriffmd.evidence.com/axon/community-request/public/greenberry. The Sheriff’s Office has also acknowledged the assistance provided by the Volunteer Fire Company of Halfway, Washington County Fire Police, and the City of Hagerstown Auxiliary Police.
